Picture
Amy Stargher is a multidisciplinary artist born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. As a child, she spent long hours exploring her surroundings with the quiet observation of an introspective soul, often creating imaginary worlds through music and imagery. This early curiosity led her to pick up a guitar at 15, inspired by a classmate who introduced her to Nirvana. Soon after, she began taking music lessons, joined her school choir, and started performing live, laying the foundation for a life immersed in the arts.
In 2006, she enrolled in the Design program at UniverCidade, gaining a solid foundation in visual arts, design, and photography. Her passion for visual storytelling deepened in 2009 when she entered the Film & TV program at FACHA, where she focused on screenwriting, directing, and producing. In 2014, she worked as an assistant producer on the short film Fronese by Mitica Filmes, which was screened at Itaú Cinemas Botafogo (Cinesystem), a well-known cinema chain in Brazil. She graduated with her first documentary, Labirinto, a poetic reflection on how an introspective child develops an artistic gaze. The project was dedicated to Jackson Saboya, a writer, professor, and TV producer who deeply influenced her style and passed away one week before her final presentation.
In 2015, Amy formed a Joan Jett tribute band (Jett & The Bombs) and moved to the United States to pursue music more seriously. She began busking in New York City playing in subways, Central Park, and eventually securing gigs at bars and restaurants. She later joined the alternative rock band Trapped In Static, performing at events and venues such as Prohibition, Arlene's Grocery, the Montauk Music Festival, and the TCS New York Marathon, with support from Sam Ash Music.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2020, she expanded her creative scope by directing, filming, and producing her own music videos and performing solo. In 2023, she had the opportunity to perform at The Cedars, a legendary house with a rich rock 'n' roll history that once hosted icons like Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, and The Velvet Underground.
In 2025, Amy joined the Gritty in Pink organization and performed at the official Warped Tour Warmup. She also played notable venues like Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, Hotel Ziggy, and Lucky Strike Live, continuing to merge her passion for music with dynamic visual storytelling.
As both a musician and filmmaker, Amy brings a rare sensitivity to her videography work, especially when capturing live performances. Her camera work is fluid, intuitive, and emotionally attuned, often reflecting her own rhythm as a performer. Whether she's behind the camera, or on stage, Amy's work is driven by a deep commitment to expression, connection, and authenticity.
